BLUSH is Back
GALLIM returns to the stage at the newly founded Chelsea Factory
We are thrilled to bring our dancers back and bring back Andrea's award winning work, BLUSH.
When so much has taken place just in the last two years, from the pandemic, to America's racial reckoning, to a global environmental collapse, to the various migration and refugee crises and now war in Europe, just to name a few of the pressing global challenges of our time, I am restless with the question, “What are the contributions that dance has for this time, and what are its limits?”
ABOUT BLUSH
When circumstances of life are not aligned to give you happiness, then how and where do you summon happiness? What is the muscle of happiness?
- Andrea Miller
GALLIM is exceedingly grateful to have a stage to bring this work back to life for a live audience as part of our 15th anniversary. But, we will need your help to cover the cost of employing our dancers for a 3-week rehearsal process and a week of performances. As we begin to emerge from the effects of this pandemic and continue to face immense challenges, we know that even through the darkest days of it all, we turned to art. We look forward to connecting with our audiences in person for this very special performance season.
"With all the conveniences and uncharted opportunities of the digital revolution we might also be numbing our bodies as the fundamental key of being in the world and knowing it. Is this the beginning of an apocalypse of the body? There are essential, ambiguous and complex elements of our humanity that can only be accessed through our physical experience."
- Andrea Miller
“Sometimes people blush with intense exertion or unchecked joy. They do so when called upon to act with courage by drawing upon an unknown power from within. Miller and her dancers show what is possible when humans push themselves to an emotional and kinetic brink. They dare to be brave and we all watch with wonder.”
